We got two great teams that will battle it out on Sunday. But who has the edge? I help clear things up with 10 reasons the Eagles will win. And then I will muddy the waters tomorrow when I give you 10 reasons the Chiefs will win. But don’t worry, I’ll clear it up for you on Friday with my final prediction. But for now let’s dive into why the Eagles will win.
10. 3 peating is real hard.
It’s so hard, that no one in the Super Bowl era has ever done it. The Chiefs have made it farther than anyone else, but that doesn’t mean they can complete the journey. This helps the Eagles.
9. Turnover kings
The Eagles are plus 10 in the playoffs. Which is just ridiculous. This is extra important since the Chiefs are 34-1 when they win or tie the turnover battle.
8. Great defensive tackles
This normally wouldn’t be a strength against the Chiefs because the middle 3 is the best in the league. But because the left tackles suck, they had to move Thuney to left tackle and now are playing an undrafted free agent at left guard. Not ideal.
7. The Eagles are flying west.
For whatever reason when teams are traveling different directions to get the game, the team traveling east always loses and the team traveling west always wins. Advantage Eagles.
6. The Chiefs are terrible against tight ends and the Eagles have a real good one.
I know Kelce is arguably the goat, but Dallas Goedert is legit. And the Good news for Dallas and the Eagles is that you don’t have to be legit to do well against the Chiefs because they are dead last in the league when it comes to covering tight ends.
5. Luck has to run out sometime…right? Right?
The Chiefs have won 17 straight one score games. But no one wins 18 straight one score games, right?
4. There is more pressure on the Chiefs.
The Eagles seem focused and ready to go. But there isn’t a ton of pressure. They are the underdogs and are just trying to win a Super Bowl not win 3 of them. So in theory they should be looser and focused on winning just this game instead of trying to make history.
3. They have the MVP
Have I mentioned that Barkley is real, real, real good. Because he is amazing. He is tough to bottle up and can score every time he has the ball.
2. The stupid Tush Push
I hate this play and have always thought it was dumb that they changed the rule many years ago to allow teammates to push each other forward. But I have no issue with the Eagles taking advantage of and mastering the art of it. If the Eagles do okay on 1st and 2nd down and get it to 3rd and short, it’s basically a first down. It was a big advantage the last time these two teams played in the Super Bowl. I don’t see that changing on Sunday.
1. It’s Saquon’s Birthday!
The Super Bowl lands on Barkley’s birthday. What a better story than the guy who should have been MVP winning Super Bowl MVP on his birthday? It seems almost too good to be true. Sort of like a 3 peat.
